Challenge: 

Create a fun and interactive show that’s both elegant and gala event-worthy.

BKA Solution: 

BKA captured the energizing diversity of the era that brought us shows like American Bandstand with their ‘60s-inspired theme Studio 67 show.

BKA scripted, directed, choreographed, designed and cast a blockbuster evening of entertainment that included eight performers with credits from Broadway’s Wicked, Hairspray and The Color Purple.  These accomplished performers, backed by a seven-piece band, rocked and rolled in a unique retro environment. The scene was reminiscent of a TV studio sound stage circa 1967 --a pivotal year for the client.

Scenic elements included a large, custom-designed “Studio 67” marquee that served as the backdrop to a tiered, floor-level platform stage that brought the action up close and personal!  Hand-strung 45 and 78 LPs framed the screens and kept the look unmistakably retro.

BKA’s incredible attention to detail and artful use of technology made this evening unforgettable!  Two 9’ x 12’ screens projected live action image magnification in high- contrast black and white for an authentic retro feel.

The show designers also used "backstage" and "just out of camera shot" elements as part of the show.  Voiceovers, “on air” indicators, make-up and wardrobe prep were done in full view, as if the actors were members of a live studio audience.

Guests were in awe as they watched the incredible live performances and rich costumes from the 60’s in vivid color – all juxtaposed against the same scene they would have viewed on black and white TV way back when.
